![]() ![]() After all, 4K drones (and eventually 8K) will become the standard at some point. You need to consider what you are going to do with the footage and whether splurging on 4K gear is a good idea or not. This is the most important question, since 4K drones cost significantly more and can come with some drawbacks that a 720p or 1080p camera wouldn’t. However, plenty of modern 4K TVs have a pseudo-HDR mode where it analyses the picture and guesses what the HDR should have looked like if it was filmed with a compatible camera. To experience the benefits of HDR you need to film the source material with a camera that captures the extra information needed to make it all work. Colour and contrast are far more important than the resolution when it comes to how attractive an image looks. Screens that are HDR compatible have much wider range of colour and contrast. Most decent 4K TVs also have a feature known as HDR or high dynamic range. There’s more to the latest generation of 4K displays than just very fine levels of detail. Which further doubles what 4K can do today. That’s four times the visual detail! Incredibly, 8K cameras and displays are on the horizon too. So UHD images have exactly four times the total number of pixels compared to UHD. So if you multiply those numbers, it comes to 8 294 400 pixels in total. DVDs only have 720×480 pixels, so the jump to FHD is quite dramatic.Īn Ultra HD 4K image has 3840×2160 pixels. The more pixels there are in the image, the crisper and more detailed it is. 1920 of them in the horizontal axis and 1080 on the vertical. In case you haven’t been keeping up, what does it actually mean if a drone has a 4K or HDR camera? The simplest way to explain it is by comparing 4K with the standard it’s meant to replace: Full High Definition.Ī FHD picture is made up of a grid of pixels. So which are the Best 4K Drones on the market today?Īnd what should you be looking out for? I put on my investigation hat and proceeded to comb the interwebs for some answers. Which means I now suddenly have a reason to care about drones with 4K cameras on them. ![]() So, to make a long story short, I am now the owner of a 55” 4K HDR TV. However, when I actually tried to find an FHD LCD in my price range I was surprised to see that UHD have started to supplant FHD models. After all, I thought, there still isn’t much 4K content out there and my internet isn’t fast enough to live stream it yet. I just wanted a simple FHD TV in a large format. What I wasn’t looking for was a UHD or “4K” TV. Thanks to better panel technology and advanced local backlight dimming, these TVs are pretty great. Really, the technology has come along in leaps and bounds. Since you can’t buy new plasma TVs anymore, I resigned myself to buying a modern LCD TV. Naively, I was hoping that trusty plasma would last until OLED TVs of a similar size became affordable.Īlas this was not to be and after long and honorable service the old plasma is starting to give up the ghost. Even today, I can’t quite get behind the lack of true blacks and relatively washed-out colors that come with LCD technology. When it comes to televisions, I’ve been clinging to my 720p plasma TV for far longer than it was designed to last. I have to admit that I’m a bit of a tech hipster in some very specific cases, while being a dummy early adopter in others. ![]()

So, once the pair is out of the fire swamp and are met with Prince Humperdinck and his guard who are determined to take Buttercup to the palace, Buttercup panics and agrees to go with Humperdinck so long as Westley gets to live the life he’s established on the high seas. Once she knows that the masked man is in fact Westley, she is desperate to not loose him to death ever again. ![]() The other piece of Buttercup that I find to be close to how a real person would act is her rash decision making skills. She started acting silly, like telling Westley to fetch her something that was easily within her reach, just to keep him around before she ever admitted her feelings to herself, much less Westley. I think that it’s very human to have such an obliviousness to our own emotions and feelings, and it’s also normal to have a rather hesitant nature in dealing with them once we realize that they’re there, just like Buttercup did. She goes from pestering him without a second thought as to why, to realizing that he loved her, to slowly realizing that she loved him back. ![]() It takes her what the narrator tells us is quite a while before she realizes what the audience suspected from Buttercup’s first few moments on screen: she loves the farm boy named Westley as much as she loves to give him grief. At the very beginning of the movie, recognizing and dealing with her feelings is something Buttercup seems loathe to do. The first way I notice Buttercup as a tangible character is how she recognizes and deals with her feelings. In a post later on this month, I will talk about why I think that this character construction was intentional, but for now, we’re going to look at a couple of the ways that Buttercup was a realistic representation of things that everyone goes through, even though what she went through herself was not the everyday occurrence. Many see Buttercup and are quick to point out how shallow and unrealistic she is, and in some respects, this is true. Buttercup, the princess referred to in the title The Princess Bride, is the leading lady of the story. ![]() ![]() ![]() "Poor reception on a few radio stations that I do not experience with our Toyota." Jamaican soundsystems had always sought exclusive recordings from their origins in the late 1940s but through most of the 1950s, when they played American rhythm & blues records, these were simply records that rival sound system operators didn't have and couldn't identify. One day an incident: Ruddy's (sound system operator Ruddy Redwood) was cutting dub, an when it start, Smithy (recording engineer Byron Smith) look like 'im start bring on the voice and Ruddy's say: no, mek it run and 'im take the whole backing track off it. " was really VERSION those days - it wasn't dub yet beca' it was jus' the riddim. Initially these acetates would simply be the standard recording of a song that wasn't yet released on a single, but around 1968-69 they started to be exclusive mixes with some or all of the vocal mixed out, as described by producer Bunny Lee: It was in this sense that the term was first used in the Jamaican recording industry: new recordings were often initially copied onto one-off acetate discs, known colloquially as soft wax or dub and later as dubplates, for exclusive use by sound system operators playing a song as an exclusive recording on a sound system was a good way for a producer to test the potential popularity of a recording before committing to the pressing of hundreds or thousands of copies of singles for retail sale. Over the next 40 years or so the term found its way into audio recording in general, often in the context of making a copy of a recording on another tape or disc. The use of the word dub in a recording context originated in the late 1920s with the advent of "talking pictures" and referred to adding a soundtrack to a film it is an informal abbreviation of the word double. Traditional dub has survived, and some of the originators such as Mad Professor continue to produce new material. Dub was a basis for the genres of jungle and drum and bass, as well as a major influence on dubstep, with its orientation around bass and utilization of audio effects. ĭub has influenced many genres of music, including rock, most significantly the subgenre of post-punk and other kinds of punk, pop, hip hop, post-disco, and later house, techno, ambient, electronic dance music, and trip hop. The Roland Space Echo was widely used by dub producers in the 1970s to produce echo and delay effects. These producers, especially Ruddock and Perry, looked upon the mixing console as an instrument, manipulating tracks to come up with something new and different. Similar experiments with recordings at the mixing desk outside the dancehall scene were also done by producers Clive Chin and Herman Chin Loy. Augustus Pablo, who collaborated with many of these producers, is credited with bringing the distinct-sounding melodica to dub, and is also among the pioneers and creators of the genre. ĭub was pioneered by recording engineers and producers such as Osbourne "King Tubby" Ruddock, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Errol Thompson and others beginning in the late 1960s. Generally, dub consists of remixes of existing recordings created by significantly manipulating the original, usually through the removal of vocal parts, the application of studio effects such as echo and reverb, emphasis of the rhythm section (the stripped-down drum-and-bass track is sometimes referred to as a riddim), and the occasional dubbing of vocal or instrumental snippets from the original version or other works. It is commonly considered a subgenre of reggae, though it has developed to extend beyond that style. Dub is an electronic musical style that grew out of reggae in the late 1960s and early 1970s. ![]() ![]() ![]() When we clicked Insert to insert the audio file, the file was embedded in the presentation, and that creates a large file size overall.
